Every spring and fall we host the Student Showcase, a capstone event where students prepare a song of their choice and perform it in front of a live audience of family, friends, and fellow students. For the first time in showcase history, the entire event will be hosted and presented online!

Whether you’re just starting out or have been studying for years, the showcase is the perfect opportunity to work toward a musical goal. You and your teacher will work together to pick a song, develop your skills, and strive toward excellence.
You can sign up to perform in a virtual band/ensemble where you’ll each play your own part of a whole song. Our staff will then stitch the parts together using video editing software, and, voila you’ve got a band! With the power of video editing, the limits are endless.
Once you’re prepared, it’s up to you to record your performance at home and submit it to your instructor for approval. This is your chance to get creative! If video editing is your thing, set up a green screen and go nuts! If you’re more of a set and costume designer, create a scene that transports your audience to another place and time! Or keep it simple go with a classic & dignified look.
The entire showcase will be broadcast worldwide on Sunday, July 12th. You'll receive a private link to the Youtube Livestream on Monday, July 6th. Please feel free to share it with your family! Whether across the street or across the country, your friends and family will be able to see you and other students perform from all over the world.
We normally host the show at Amazing Things Arts Center. As a result of covid-19, it’s had to shutter it’s doors like so many other venues. It’s a community gem and we want to do everything we can to support them. The $10 sign-up fee would normally cover the cost of renting the space. To show our support, we will be donating that money to their GoFundMe.

Q: How many songs can I perform?
Students are limited to one song each.
Q: I take lessons on more than one instrument. Do I get to perform twice?
Yes, you’ve found the loophole! If you take lessons on multiple instruments, you may sign up to perform once on each.
Q: I’m not sure what song I want to do. Can I still sign up?
Yes. If you’re not sure what song you want to perform, you can sign up and put TBD as in “to be determined.”
Q: Is there a fee?
Yes, there is a $10 per student sign-up fee for the Showcase.
Q: Why is there a fee?
The $10 sign-up fee normally covers the cost of renting the venue, Amazing Things Arts Center.
Because of the lockdown, their revenue has completely dried up and they’re relying entirely on donations. We want to help them out however we can because they’ve been such an important part of our community. All sign-up fees collected will be donated to their fundraising efforts to help them avoid permanent closure. Q: How do I pay the fee?
We will add the sign-up fee to your monthly bill in July.
Q: I’ve signed-up, what now?
After signing up, it’s up to you and your teacher to work together on preparing your performance piece.
Q: How should I prepare?
The goal is to be able to play your song all the way through, without stopping, and to the best of your ability. There’s only one way to do that and it’s practice, practice, practice!
Q: Will I be performing live online?
No, students will have to pre-record themselves performing their song and send it in. Your performance will be played during the livestream.

As long as you’re performing your song and the content of your video is appropriate for children and families, you’re free to get as creative as you want! Dress up, create your own stage, invite your family to appear, have fun!
Q: Do I have to do any video editing?
No, you do not. You can send us the raw video footage and our fabulous video editing team will work their magic!
Q: Can I edit the video myself if I want?
Yes! There’s no limit to what you can do with footage, software, and a little creativity.

The deadline for submitting a video performance is June 28th.

Q: Is it going to be a private event?
Yes! For the safety and privacy of our students and staff, the live stream will be set to private and will be accessible with a shared link. In other words, random people on the internet won’t be able to find it and tune in.
