Papalexakis Handmade Cretan Round Back Mandolin w/Case (USED)
Papalexakis Handmade Cretan Round Back Mandolin w/Case (USED)
Our Notes: This handmade mandolin comes to us from a customer who was cleaning out her father's instruments after his passing. He visited the island of Crete where he purchased this mandolin from the Papalexakis family of builders. Overall, the instrument is in Very Good condition. There is some superficial damage to note: the wood tailpiece cover is chipping where it meets the back. The top and back are slightly separating near the tailpiece cover. The rest of the mandolin is in excellent condition. The pearloid binding is especially attractive. It comes with a very nice soft shell case made just for a round back mandolin. Bring home your piece of the Greek Islands with this handcrafted mandolin!
The Papalexakis family, based in Rethymnon, Crete, Greece, is known for crafting handmade traditional Greek instruments, including round back mandolins. Also called bowl-back or Neapolitan mandolins, these instruments are known for their warm, mellow tone, suitable for classical, folk, and traditional Mediterranean music. The rounded back enhances sound projection, creating a resonant and vibrant playing experience. Comes with a Ritter-branded padded case with adjustable straps and a strap for the mandolin.
