Hohner The 64, 4-Octave Chromonica, Key of C (USED)

Our Notes: This harp comes to us from a local player with too many harmonicas who decided it's time to let some of his babies go. He took good care of this piece and it is in Very Good condition. There are some minor signs of age and cosmetic wear on the instrument - light scratches here and there. Functionally, the instrument is in Excellent condition - all notes play cleanly and clearly and the slide mechanism moves freely and smoothly. Comes with a very smart looking matching wooden case with soft yellow interior. We have sanitized this instrument and it's ready to be played again. When it came on the market in 1938, the 64 Chromonica was the first chromatic to boast a range of over four octaves. Thanks to the additional bottom octave, it took the tonal range of the harmonica into registers where it had never before been heard, as well as brought many pieces from the classical repertoire within the reach of the instrument. It also enabled the eerie, deep-toned growl and full chords of amplified chromatic harp which swiftly became an integral part of the blues tradition, a sound which lives on to this day. It defined the industry standard for professional quality 4 octave chromatics and has gone on to inspire generations of players in blues, soul, jazz and classical music.
