The Year, 2022 – 2023:
We schedule the lesson year from September 2022 through August 2023 and teach through the year.
Covid Safety:
To ensure the health and safety of CMH students and staff, all students and accompanying family members must follow the following safety protocols:
(We will continue to monitor the overall COVID situation and adjust our rules and protocols accordingly)
Students may at any time switch from online to in-person lessons and vise-versa with a written or verbal notice to CMH Staff.
Registration:
A non-refundable annual fee of $25 per student is required at the time of registration. ( There is a maximum of one Registration Fee per immediate family, per school year. )
Payment of Fees:
The cost for private, 30-minute weekly lessons is $189 per month whether three, four, or five weeks of lessons in the month. 45-minute lessons cost $283.50 per month; hour lessons cost $359.10 per month. Lesson charges are settled on the 2nd of the month unless we receive written notice that a change of the student’s enrollment status is requested. Lesson prices are subject to change.
A service fee of $30 may be charged for NSF checks or rejected credit card transactions.
All lesson payments are made by automatic charge. Charge is by either credit card or ACH bank draft. We accept all major credit cards.
Discounts are offered for families or individuals who occupy two or more half-hour slots per week; 5% for two slots and 10% for three or more.
Incidental fees such as book purchases, instrument repairs, accessories, etc. may be paid by a one-time automatic charge or by regular credit card, check, or cash.
Private Lesson Policies
Reserved lesson times are offered Monday through Saturday, based on studio availability and student preference. Lesson times are identified and selected during the registration process. No lessons are started until a completed registration form is in hand at Centre Music House. Once scheduled, permanent time changes may be arranged pending availability.
Free Trial Lessons
The Free Trial Lesson is for a one-time 30 minute private lesson. Limited to one per student. Normal rates apply for all lessons taken beyond the free trial. Once scheduled, the Free Trial Lesson is officially redeemed. If you cannot attend the originally scheduled Free Trial Lesson for any reason, it may not be carried over to another lesson.
Trial and One-Off Lessons
Additional Trial Lessons may be offered and taken as long as payment is made in advance ($40). Occasional “One-Off” lessons may be taken as scheduling permits, as long as payment method is on record at Centre Music House and payment is processed in advance ($50). No discounts apply. No refund or credit is issued if either type of lesson is missed or cancelled by the student.
Missed Lessons:
We are reserving an agreed-upon lesson spot for you and providing a highly skilled teacher for you in a professional studio setting. We guarantee that your reserved spot is available to you each week.
Students are expected to arrive on-time at the start of their lesson and fully prepared. If a student does not arrive within 15 minutes of the start time of their lesson it is assumed that the student is a "no-show."
Centre Music House does not offer make-up or re-scheduling opportunities for students who occupy a reserved, weekly time-slot, even with advance notice. If a permanent, long term schedule change is needed, we will facilitate that as the schedule allows. For our students to realize the full potential of their investment in lessons, attendance at lessons must be a priority and commitment.
Summer Lessons:
We teach all through the summer months of July and August. Prior to the beginning of the summer, students will receive a Summer Survey through which they may withdraw from summer lessons or inform Centre Music House of any planned vacation dates. Students will not be charged for vacation dates provided through their Summer Survey. Any cancelled lesson dates not provided through the Summer Survey will be paid lessons as per our Missed Lesson policy above.
Withdrawal and Refunds:
If a student must withdraw from lessons for whatever reason, we ask that you notify the Administrative Staff, not just the teacher, of your intention to stop lessons. We do require 2-weeks notice for lesson stoppage. Any pre-paid lesson balance beyond that notice will be: a) carried forward toward the student’s return, b) transferred to another account (sibling, etc.), or c) refunded at your request.
Vacation and Holiday Policy
Lessons will not be held during the Christmas/New Year’s break, December 24 through January 1. Lessons will not be held during school breaks as defined by the Framingham Public Schools’ calendar, February 20-26 (Winter Recess) and April 17-23 (Spring Recess). We do teach on Early Release days, ‘Professional Development’ days and other school holidays not listed here. Holiday Credit is issued for Labor Day, Thanksgiving Eve, Thanksgiving Day, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, Memorial Day (May 29), Juneteenth (June 19), and Independence Day (July 4). Other local, state, or school holidays or closings have no bearing on the Centre Music House schedule. Celebrants of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur will be credited as long as advance notice is given of the intention to miss the lessons falling on those days. Each noted holiday will receive a Credit Value based on the length of the lesson and any family discounts (see table below).
Lesson Credits
Centre Music House reserves the right to offer alternative lesson times in the event a teacher is unable to attend a lesson or will attempt to arrange for a substitute teacher. In such a case, if no alternative is arranged, a credit will be issued and applied to the next payment period. In the event that lessons are cancelled by Centre Music House because of a holiday or any other reason, such as inclement weather, a credit for each such cancellation will be applied to the next payment period.
The value of the credit depends on the lesson length and any possible family discounts:
Lesson Credits | Credit Value | ||
Lesson Length |
Base Rate | 5% Discount | 10% Discount |
30 min | $43 | $41 | $39 |
45 min | $65 | $62 | $58 |
60 min | N/A | $82 | $78 |
Snow Closures
In the event that lessons are canceled by Centre Music House due to inclement weather, we will offer instead to conduct the lesson virtually via zoom. If you do not wish to take the lesson virtually, a credit for each such cancellation will be applied to the next payment period.
