About:
Coy Simmons is a saxophonist and multi-instrumentalist from Decatur, Illinois. He has graduated from Berklee College of Music with a Bachelors in Performance, and was able to participate in a wide array of groups and genres during his duration in the program. Currently, Coy leads his original jazz-fusion band “Vesuvio”, and is a core member of the “Ari Pent Quartet”. Although jazz-fusion is his main genre, Coy participates in a wide array of styles including, but not limited to: Country, Bluegrass, Classical, Rock, Metal, Traditional Jazz, Funk, and R&B.
Coy’s main goal as a teacher is to either ignite the flame of music enjoyment, or to make that flame grow brighter for any student of any age on any instrument. One of the core lessons he wants to instill is that anybody of any skill level can share their voice and life experience through music.
