Summer Band Adventure at Centre Music House - 2008
Now in its 14th year, the Summer Band Adventures is a terrific program produced by the professional staff at Centre Music House.

Young musicians are placed in groups of 4 to 6 instrumentalists and/or singers and, under the guidance of an experienced Centre Music House instructor, are taught how to put together a real, live band. Students learn how to break down a song. They work on its individual parts and are taught how to rehearse, to build the parts back up again, to create the end product of a song. During the process, they learn about cooperation, patience, and sharing; they get to create, express themselves, and ultimately put their own stamp on tunes of their liking and perhaps even write original music.

The mix of musicians can be the expected…it can also be rather eclectic. It is always fun!

Adventure Requirements
Students taking part in the Adventures are expected to have a basic knowledge of their instrument. This is not designed for absolute beginners. Basic music reading skills are a plus. Drummers need to be able to keep a beat for the length of a song. Patience, a good attitude, and a spirit of adventure all contribute to making the experience positive for everyone involved. Appropriate student conduct is expected. A good time can be had by all.

When…
The Adventures run as both One Week and Two Week sessions. The sessions run from Monday through Friday, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM.

Where…
The bands meet and rehearse at Centre Music House. We provide amplifiers for electric guitars and bass. We provide a drum set, an electronic keyboard, and microphones for singers. Otherwise, musicians provide their own instruments.

What….
The make-up of the bands will vary, depending on enrollment. Our talented staff will work on turning the musical mix into a cohesive unit.

Performance…
Each Adventure culminates in a live performance by the band. This takes place at 12:30 on the final Friday of each session at Centre Music. With nerves of steel and steely resolve, the new band soars and thrills the crowd with their new-found musical expression. A good time is had by all.

Recording…
The Friday performance of each band is recorded and each participant will receive a copy of a CD. (Please allow 1 to 2 weeks for production of the CD)
