Music Lessons at Centre Music House 

“How long will it take for me to learn how to play the ______?” (you fill in the blank)  This is a common question we hear when people are inquiring about lessons.  And to this there is no easy answer.  “As long as it takes” and “You never stop learning” are the only answers which make any sense to us.  Most serious students (and student’s parents) realize that there is always more to learn, more room for improvement, and more fun to be had the better one gets.  As such, the teachers here at Centre Music House serve as your guide and, hopefully, your inspiration to work on your instrument, to develop life-long skills in the pursuit of making music.  But it is the student’s job to take the information which the teacher presents and to take it home and work on it.  We call that ‘practice’.  There are students who have taken lessons for a few months and realized that learning an instrument isn’t as easy as they thought, and they quit.  We have students who have been taking lessons with us for years.  Those who have the drive and discipline to ‘stick with it’ can end up with a talent and musical ability which they will carry with themselves for life.  Learning a musical instrument can result in a great sense of self-achievement and self-confidence, qualities which can carry over into other aspects of life.  How long will it take?  It will take time, it will take effort, it will take commitment.  It can be fun, it can be rewarding, it will be musical.  What’s better than that?  Enjoy the experience; thrive and grow.  We will help you get there.

Music Lessons are given once a week, typically for a half-hour (30 minutes).  Lessons are private, one-on-one, so the student gets the full attention of the teacher.  Some students  opt for longer lessons, either 45 minutes or an hour, as scheduling permits.  (Hour-long lessons are discounted 5 %.)  We offer lessons six days a week.  On weekdays, the lessons run from early afternoon until 9 o’clock at night, on Fridays until 6:00 PM, and on Saturday from 9:30 AM until 5:00 PM.

During the school year, we schedule lessons on a Trimester basis.  There are three periods, the Fall, Winter, and Spring; each consisting of 14 weeks of lessons.  We are closed on major holidays: Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Day, New Year’s Eve and Day, Memorial Day, and the Fourth of July.  Otherwise we are open and lessons are ‘on’.
